Shawna Kelly is a Principal UX Researcher currently working at UserTesting on the top qualitative research tool for technology companies. Shawna’s research focuses on understanding how humans incorporate technology into their everyday lives and helping companies to better understand the impact of their products.
She has conducted research on gaming and entertainment, publishing, personal finance, e-commerce, computer hardware, and technology implementation in work and educational settings. In between research projects, she taught media literacy classes in media theory, media research, and game studies, and helped develop a Game Art degree at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising.
She received her Ph.D. in Communication from the University of Southern California, Annenberg School for Communication, for examining how first-time video game players learned to interact with the unexpectedly popular World of Warcraft
