The Cyber Citizenship Initiative (CCI) is a publicly accessible, community-based curricular resource database and educator engagement platform connecting researchers and educators to curate and host “cyber citizenship” curricula and tools that teach media literacy skills. In partnership with Cyber Florida, the Florida Center for Instructional Technology (FCIT), the National Association for Media Literacy Education, and New America, the Cyber Citizenship Initiative is currently accepting applications for a 12-month (contract) part-time ONLINE OUTREACH AND ENGAGEMENT COORDINATOR to assist with growing/supporting the project’s online community of educators.

The CCI Online Outreach and Engagement Coordinator will support the cultivation of relationships with educators across diverse communities to learn, engage, and contribute to the Cyber Citizenship Initiative both asynchronously on the online platform and synchronously through outreach, trainings, and focus groups hosted by the program. The purpose of the position is to build an active online community of educators that are returning users and content contributors of the newly developed CCI site which launched in July 2022. Successful candidates will be able to commit to 25 hours a week for this position and have experience in online outreach, demonstrated success at building and maintaining an active voluntary online community of educators, and working to achieve Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Additionally, great communication, collaboration, public speaking, and organizational skills are required. Basic experience with website management, google workspace, and spreadsheets is preferred for this position.

  • Contribute to NAMLE newsletters, announcements, and digital communications
  • Coordinate and facilitate educator focus group meetings for the portal  
  • Manage educator distribution list and correspondence
  • Develop recruitment and outreach strategy for educators to engage online with CCI 
  • Manage online community on the new CCI site
  • Assist with potential collaborations with pre-service teacher programs/grad programs to increase online engagement
  • Identify educator spaces online to connect with
  • Promote hubs and groups on the CCI site to build community
  • Assist with reaching KPI’s for site growth and analytics regarding active users, subscribers, and online engagement


  • 3+ years of professional education experience (required)
  • Online user engagement experience
  • Demonstrated success at building and maintaining an active voluntary online community of educators
  • Knowledgeable of media literacy concepts and education practices (required)
  • Demonstrated experience working with diverse communities
  • Experience working with or in K-12 or community education settings
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-directed in a team-oriented environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Education, Media Studies, Community Education, or relevant field (required)
