Benjamin Thevenin received his PhD from the University of Colorado in Boulder. Benjamin’s studies focus on the relationships between youth, media and politics, and in particular, how we can better prepare young people to become thoughtful citizens, consumers and creators of media. At BYU’s Department of Theatre & Media Arts, he teaches classes on creativity, children’s media, new media and media education. Benjamin also leads the Hands on a Camera project, a service-learning program in which BYU students teach media production and analysis skills to local youth. He serves on the Leadership Council of the National Association of Media Literacy Education as as Associate Editor of the Journal of Media Literacy Education. Benjamin lives with his wife Emily and two boys in the beautiful Wasatch mountains.
