To recognize their commitment and passion for media literacy education, we would like to invite active media literacy educators to join NAMLE’s Leadership Council. The role of the council is to help NAMLE grow to become the preeminent leader in the effort to expand and improve the practice of media literacy education in the United States. The Leadership Council will lead NAMLE’s communication, resources, and professional development projects in accordance with the strategic vision set forth by the Executive Director and the Board of Directors.
Leadership Council members are invited to join by the NAMLE Executive Director. They must be current NAMLE members and are asked to commit to one year of participation. Members of the Leadership Council will lead the following committees:
Communication/Social Media Committee: This committee focuses on growing recognition for NAMLE, the field of media literacy education and related projects. Individual members of the committee will work on publishing the monthly NAMLE e-newsletter, updating NAMLE’s web site and posting content to various social networking resources.
Professional Development Committee: This committee focuses on the coordination of all NAMLE events and activities that help members increase their skills and knowledge around media literacy education. The Conference Committee is a sub-committee of the professional development committee.
Resources Committee: This committee focuses on the coordination of all NAMLE materials available to its members. This includes organizing and promoting the Core Principles of Media Literacy Education, the Journal of Media Literacy Education, the Marketplace, and the Resource Hub.
Anyone interested in becoming part of the Leadership Council can contact the Executive Director at any time. However, appointments will be made at a time designated by the Executive Director and based on the needs and projects of the organization. The Executive Director will hold monthly meetings with the Leadership Council.
The Leadership Council will work with the Student Leadership Council on projects, events, and mentorship.
In appreciation for these volunteer efforts, NAMLE will:
• Offer networking opportunities
• Provide an opportunity to participate in a Leadership Council panel at NAMLE conference
• Inform about professional opportunities when appropriate
