About the Leadership Council

To recognize members’ commitment and passion for media literacy education, NAMLE created its Leadership Council in 2015. The role of the council is to help NAMLE grow to become the preeminent leader in the effort to expand and improve the practice of media literacy education in the United States. The Leadership Council members work closely with the Executive Director on projects, day to day organizational operations, communication, conference planning, and U.S. Media Literacy Week initiative.

Leadership Council members take on various leadership roles including chair and program chair of our national conference, regional chairs for Media Literacy Week, and Associate Editors for the Journal for Media Literacy Education. Members also edit NAMLE monthly newsletters, manage NAMLE social media accounts, develop project ideas, and consult on various initiatives.

Anyone interested in becoming part of the Leadership Council can contact our Michelle Ciulla Lipkin, NAMLE’s Executive Director at any time. You must be current NAMLE members and will be asked to commit to two years of service. If you are interested in nominating someone for the council, please contact Michelle Ciulla Lipkin, NAMLE’s Executive Director.

Appointments are made at a time designated by the Executive Director and based on the needs and projects of the organization.
