Talking to Industry about Respect in a Digital World

On November 4 at 8pm EST, NAMLE will be hosting a google hangout,Talking to Industry about Respect in a Digital World with Media SmartsTrend Micro, Twitter, Instagram and Fuel. The google hangout will focus on bringing the perspective of industry and content creators to educators.
Participants include:
Moderator: Lynette T. Owens, Trend Micro 
Lynette Owens is the Founder and Global Director of Trend Micro’s Internet Safety for Kids and Families program.  With 20+ years in the tech industry, Lynette speaks and blogs regularly, and works with communities and school districts across the U.S. and around the world to support digital literacy and digital citizenship education.  She is a board member of the Family Online Safety Institute, the National Association of Media Literacy Education, and SPARK Kindness and serves on the advisory boards of INHOPE and the U.S. Safer Internet Day.
Panelist: Patricia Cartes, Twitter 
As Twitter’s Head of Global Safety Outreach, Patricia Cartes works to define policy and to ensure user safety and security in the challenging realm of modern social media. Patricia’s team works 24×7 to defend and respect the voice of Twitter users and to fight online abuse including targeted harassment, child sexual exploitation, human trafficking and cyber-bullying.

Lilly works at Instagram where she manages the strategy and development of global marketing programs, campaigns and partnerships with non-profits, businesses and public figures. She loves working to help the Instagram community of more than 400 million capture and share the world’s moments. Prior to Instagram, she led marketing for a small business in New York. Lilly graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with honors.
 Panelist: Anthony Licon, Fuel 
As Director, Creative & Product Development, Anthony leads Fuel’s efforts to create world-class suites of creative technology products, with a focus on kids and teens. With over 15 years of experience at Disney working on core global franchise brands, live action properties, and original gaming I.P., Anthony brings his considerable knowledge to Fuel’s roster of properties. As such, Anthony provides expertise in youth entertainment and digital safety, strategic vision, industry tracking, design and analytics, monetization models, synergy initiatives (consumer products, publishing, studio, television), and is a key stakeholder and contact to internal teams and external partners, from National Geographic Kids to DreamWorks Animation.
