The Center for Media and Information Literacy (CMIL) is a hub for research, outreach, education, and professional development on issues involving media literacy and information literacy. The CMIL is dedicated to improving the quality of media and information literacy practice locally, nationally, and internationally.
Our work is strategically aligned around three areas:
1. Scholarship: Consider research questions examining the impact of media and technology, with a focus on media literacy education and children’s media.
2. Media industry: Encourage the integration of media literacy and information literacy principles in content developed for television, online, gaming and other media, especially for children.
3. Community outreach: Provide community outreach, public programs, and educational services targeted to the needs of youth and local school and after-school educators
