Deborah Bressoud Parker, Conference Chair
Deb Parker is NAMLE 2nd Vice President and the 2011 Conference Chairperson. Previously, as the manager of Newsweek’s Education Program and director of BusinessWeek’s education initiatives, she focused on helping high school and university educators connect their classroom teaching with real-world content. Her published works include editing “Participation in Government: A Newsweek Manual for Citizen Action” and contributing to the ASCD publication “Global Understandings: A Framework for Teaching and Learning.” Access, analysis and communication continue to be media literacy skills Deb supports through her mentoring of lifelong learners and with older adult Internet training. In addition to her NAMLE responsibilities she is on the Volunteer Advisory Board for the Council for Older Adults in Delaware, Ohio, and she is developing education materials to support the United Nations Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) as they relate to Fair Trade. Vanessa Domine, PhD, Program Chair
Vanessa Domine is an Associate Professor in Curriculum and Teaching at Montclair State University in New Jersey. Her research focus is media and technology literacy among young people and democratic practices in education. She is the author of Rethinking Technology in Schools (Peter Lang, 2009) and serves as the NAMLE 2011 Conference Program Chair. Vanessa can be contacted at: vdomine@namle.net
Annelise Wunderlich, Social Networking Coordinator
Annelise Wunderlich is a a filmmaker and media educator living in San Francisco. She works as the National Community Engagement and Education Manager for the Independent Television Service (ITVS), where she produces educational content for the Emmy award winning PBS series, Independent Lens. She has produced documentary films on subjects ranging from women factory workers in Tijuana, gay adoption to crystal meth, which have appeared on PBS, Current TV and other national television outlets. Prior to her career in media she worked for Amnesty International USA as a refugee and immigrant advocate. She has Masters degrees in Journalism and Latin American Studies from UC Berkeley. Karen Zill, Conference Communications Chair
Karen is an educational media consultant and freelance writer and editor. She writes discussion guides and educational materials, and helps develop outreach campaigns for PBS and other educational program producers. Alison Stuart, Local Committee Chair
Alison is currently a teacher within the School District of Philadelphia. She graduated from Temple University with a degree in Communications and a Masters in Education. Previously, she worked for WHYY as a Video Editor and Community Media Instructor. She is excited to be a part of the NAMLE 2011 Conference and looks forward to making connections with other media literacy educators around the Philadelphia area. Ethan Delavan, Conference Web Site Chair
Ethan is currently the Technology Coordinator at Seattle Country Day School, an independent K-8 school for gifted students. He has taught media arts and drama for all ages over the past 15 years. In his copious spare time, he is a video producer and has created documentaries for hire and for broadcast.
