Jane Ballinger, PhD
Chair of Communications Committee 

Jane Ballinger, PhD is a professor in the Department of Communication at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona (Cal Poly Pomona), where she teaches journalism, media studies and desktop publishing. She is actively involved in creating service-learning projects in which her students develop media literacy lessons and present them to youth groups and in elementary and secondary schools.

Dr. Ballinger holds bachelor's and master's degrees from San Diego State University and a PhD in journalism from The University of Texas at Austin. She has worked as a newspaper reporter and copy editor and as a public relations consultant for non-profit organizations. Dr. Ballinger was recently named the outstanding advisor for the College of Letters, Arts and Social Sciences at Cal Poly Pomona.
