What is Media That Matters™?

Media That Matters™ is the premiere showcase for short films on the most important topics of the day. Local and global, online and in communities around the world, Media That Matters™ engages our youth and inspires them to take action.

Each year, Media That Matters™ reaches thousands of young people in classrooms, online and at community events. With a vast collection of short films addressing key social and political issues, Media That Matters™ is a great tool for educators to inspire classroom discussion about the most important subjects of the day. Media That Matters™ promotes critical thinking, effective communication and active citizenry.

What do teachers say?

“MTM is an invaluable resource that grabs students’ attention immediately. The short film format allows me to show a film (twice if necessary) and then have a
discussion about it within a 35-50 minute class period. Watching the films have helped me to engage my students in deep conversations about current issues through journaling, class discussion, literary comparisons and personal connections.”

-Anne Gaspers, Spanish Teacher at Thornton High School, Thornton, CO
