Event-partner announcements

NAMAC’s 2012 Conference is a singularly collaborative event, bringing in hundreds of participants from around the nation. In that spirit, we want to kick things off with some annoucements about important partner events — Mozilla’s Popcorn Story Camp, the Games+Learning+Society+Conference, and Making Media Now.

1) Mozilla Popcorn Story Camp: Summer 2012 Opportunity for Youth Media Instructors
Mozilla’s Popcorn Story Camp is a free interactive-storytelling program using the tools and core principles of the World Wide Web. Youth centers from all over will connect live with awesome guest speakers like Damian Kulash (OK Go), Tommy Pallotta (“Waking Life,” “A Scanner Darkly”), Cory Doctorow (Boing Boing, “Little Brother”) and other leading Web-native storytellers. Our creations will be powered by the beta release of Mozilla Popcorn, a browser-based, drag-and-drop interactive editor for augmented online video.
GET INVOLVED with Popcorn Story Camp: Give Mozilla a shout @ https://donate.mozilla.org/mozilla-popcorn-youth, or email Jacob Caggiano, Jacob@mozillafoundation.org
2) The 8th annual Games+Learning+Society Conference, June 13-15 @ the University of Wisconsin-Madison
The grassroots, “indie” GLS Conference is one of the few destinations for creators of digital-learning media to meet and share in the field’s innovations, and explore how the field can serve the public interest. Each year, we foster in-depth conversation and social networking across diverse disciplines, including: game studies, education research, learning sciences, educational practice, media design and more. Our commitment is to reinvent learning both in and out of formal schools through the promise of games and simulations.
