Media & Learning Conference 2011 in Brussels

Media & Learning is aimed at practitioners and policy makers who want to find new and effective ways to use media to enhance the learning process. It is organised in collaboration with the Flemish Ministry of Education and takes place in the Flemish Ministry of Education Headquarters in Brussels on 24-25 November.

Highlights of the conference include keynote presentations by Belgian child psychiatrist Peter Adriaenssens, Richard Harper, Principal Researcher at Microsoft Research in Cambridge, UK, Nikos Theodosakis, author of ‘The Director in the Classroom” and Lizbeth Goodman Founder/Director, the SMARTlab Digital Media Institute. The programme includes screenings showing excellent examples of media usage to support learning from Thomson Reuters in the UK and Institut für Film und Bild in Germany, presentations by TV.Klasse in Belgium, Nanyang Technological University in Singapore and finalists in the MEDEA Awards 2011 along with discussion sessions, workshops and demonstrations.

About Rhys Daunic: Rhys is a member of the NAMLE board of directors currently serving the Executive Committee as Secretary, and is chair of the Communications Committee. He is a Brooklyn based educator and consultant who integrates media literacy education into a variety of learning environments around the country. He is co-founder and director of The Media Spot, where he specializes in working with organizations, educators and students to design and implement curricula that align media literacy concepts with learning goals through 21st century forms of communication.
