Media Literacy Board Broadens Leadership

The recent board elections of the National Association for Media Literacy Education (NAMLE) have brought a variety of new voices to the leadership of the organization.

Reflecting the growing reach of media literacy across multiple disciplines, the 15-member board now includes representatives from higher education, independent media, after school programs, media production, organizational communications, research and public health.  The five new members elected to NAMLE’s board indicate the growing recognition of the importance of media literacy skills in today’s world as well as NAMLE’s central role in promoting those skills.

Newly elected “At Large” Board Directors are:

  • Ethan Delavan, Technology Coordinator, Seattle Country Day School
  • Jasmine Hood, Development Assistant, Common Sense Media
  • Carol Tizzano, Media Literacy and Art Educator & Independent Producer
  • Cathy Leogrande, Associate Professor, Le Moyne College
  • Theresa Redmond, Assistant Professor, Appalachian State University

Newly elected Board Officers (and current Board Directors) are:

“We are thrilled to have such a strong group of leaders join the NAMLE board,” said president Sherri Hope Culver. “Their varied perspectives will be especially important as we plan future events and advocate for digital and media literacy nationally.”

About NAMLE Board of Directors: NAMLE is governed by an all-volunteer Board of Directors that works through an active committee structure to conduct the business of the organization and plan its future. Members are elected for two year terms and may serve three terms before rotating off for at least one year. View author profile.
